and tomorrow the nostalgia
u2 have always been a bit of a problem for me. in 4 decades, with an unabated fondness for music and it's accessories,i have seen so much come,go and stay.i remember, when i was quite young and u2 were starting out, they were playing a show in tullamore and they stopped for lunch in,my old town, athlone.my friend barry and i heard where they were dining and we decided to see if we could cadge a lift to the show.we found them in,what was then called, the bonne bonne restaurant.there was just the 5 of them, bono, edge, larry, adam and paul mc guinness.they were really nice and they explained to us that they were all travelling to the show in the same car and there was no room for us.they did offer us free entry if we made it to tullamore ourselves, which we did and, as far as i remember.we enjoyed it.however that is not whatever the point is.
in a remarkably long career they have never really blown me away.maybe it's overfamiliarity with the likes of the stones, marvin gaye, bowie, elvis and the beatles but i never really got the allure of u2.
this could only be aggravated by my view of bono now,as an unlovable lennon figure too far into todays platinum circle.
it really should have been cathal

That's a great story. I love U2, but they were the first thing i was listening to when i was little, so it's probably different for me.
I've just worked out that the guy who wanders the streets of Dublin occasionally and who I thought was Bono is actually a street crazy who wears those fly-type shades.
I did see the Edge once in a bookshop in town at Christmas.
