idle bitch

Hooked up the gamebox to the internet
Got an actual person for a gift as a pet
Can’t be cruel, bought up too well
Hail freedonia, lip service licking hell

Built a mansion inside your tree
Not ostentatious, it’s just….like….me
Evolutionary struggles at the top
The richest rewards the longest drop

Do you really not want to go out
It’s noisy, smelly and as for the crowd
scream love to jump up and shout
the nuance won’t carry in the cloud

World famous artifact on the wall
makes someone feel rather tall
But what would Buddah say
Never much liked your’s anyway

poor pete

As prospects diminish
As nightmares swell
Some pray for heaven
While we live in hell

When I was wee and the Bunnymen were afoot, I did’nt have a clue what this lyric was about. I just believed Heaven Up Here had been delivered on stone tablets and who was I to argue.
In rooms florid with hash clouds and dripping in unexpensive red wine, the faithful came to bear witness. It was incredible how instant cult status was then and how many times it turned out to be correct.
From Show Of Strength to the title track is just breathless and then comes The Disease. Camus must have smiled and I’m sure Courtney has, a few times no doubt.
It does’nt end there either. Zimbo comes on like punk Clannad and somehow it refuses to suck, No Dark Things is groovy “entertainment” with edith bowie on croon. In the majestic Turquoise Days, Mac generously gives doomed romantics their song. All I Want is Teen Spirit done by Franz.
It’s rather good actually.

there goes a tenner

i'm sure it's one of the unpleasant side orders of ageing but i find myself tut tutting the lack of mavericks in musical entertainment today. when it was all fields around here we had the likes of Japan,P.I.L.,The Slits(for about 2 minutes, granted),Gang of Four,Magazine,The Cramps and,.......feel the love.................., Kate Bush.
she remains one of my all time loves. i remember vividly seeing her for the first time on totp(imagine people that's all we had back then) and being amazed. she was only slightly older than me and her songwriting had come to the attention of Dave Gilmour who helped her get a deal with emi. Her first single,Wuthering Heights, was a huge hit and it launched her career in fine fettle.
my personal favourite is The Dreaming, her third album. now i've got to admit that i hate '80's music production and it's amazing that i can even listen to this record.i feel it's a testament to her talent that her vision was so special that not even '80's production could harm it.
i would implore people with too much time and money on their conscience to check out this wonderful platter.
